Major Ghibli Exhibit Opening in Tokyo

A massive Studio Ghibli exhibit will be set up in Tokyo’s Roppongi Hills, at the Tokyo City View building. The exhibit will be open from 7 July to 11 September, and will showcase Studio Ghibli posters, photos, documents, artwork, and animation material from the last thirty years. Movies ranging from Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind to Spirited Away will have various production materials on display at the Ghibli exhibit. In addition, items from The Red Turtle, an animated film co-produced by Studio Ghibli, will also be on display.

There will also be statues and replicas scattered around the exhibit, and a gift shop filled with Ghibli goodies which would make even the most causal of fans hastily empty their wallet.

Though it is a sad reality many of us won’t be able to see the Ghibli exhibit in person, perhaps we can hold out hope that many of these never before seen materials will still make their way online for us to enjoy. That being said, if you’re dying to see more, check out the video below which provides a taste of what will be on display.
