Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi to create new development company

Hironobu Sakaguchi, the creator of the Final Fantasy series and producer, designer, and scenario writer for countless other Square Enix titles, (including but not limited to; Kingdom Hearts, Parasite Eve, and Chrono Trigger) is in the midst of creating a new development company. Streaming a video to his YouTube account, Sakaguchi announced that the new development company would be located in Tokyo and he is considering the name ‘Dawnwalker’.

The name is very similar to another development company Sakaguchi is already running, ‘Mistwalker’. The company was created in 2004 after Sakaguchi left Square Enix, and has produced such games as Lost Odyssey and The Last Story.

Though Sakaguchi has only just announced the company, and even its name is not yet official, ‘Dawnwalker’ is currently recruiting staff. I expect we’ll have to wait some time before we see any new games from the development company, but given Sakaguchi’s track record, I’m sure they’ll be worth the wait.
